Training
CPDT-KA led training utilizing LIMA (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive) and R+ techniques. We will work with you to help overcome any challenges that you may be facing with your dog, and will help you build up your skills so that you can have a relationship with your dog that you’re excited to brag about!
Walking
We offer a wide variety of walking services, including emergency check-ins, enrichment walks, and reactivity walks. We are well-versed in using mobility aids, like wheelchairs, as well!
Pet Sitting
Quality pet care from a Certified Professional Animal Care Manager, in your home, providing top-notch service, no matter what special care may be required. Board and Train services are also available.
Training Packages
Single Session Training
These single sessions can focus on basic obedience, manners, leash etiquette, and more! These are built around educating and empowering owners who want to take their training into their own hands but may need a little extra help or guidance. These single sessions can also be chained together to build customized training plans that may fit your specific needs better.
Standard Training Program
Our Standard Training Course is designed to focus on teaching and enhancing basic skills, introducing new commands and techniques, puppy training, basic socialization, loose leash walking skills, and even minor behavior adjustments. This course includes three sessions, fully customized educational handouts, and three weeks of full trainer access, meaning you can text or call with any questions at any time! This course is perfect for new pet owners, puppies, basic training, and for polishing up your existing skills
Advanced Training Program
The Advanced Training Program is designed for our clients who want to take their training to the next level and for our clients who may need to overcome some harder training obstacles, like aggression, reactivity, or severe anxiety. The Advanced Training program offers dogs and their owners the opportunity to step up their game and dive into more advanced techniques either for enrichment or behavioral correction. This package includes six longer sessions, post-training enrichment, fully customized education handouts, and six weeks of 24/7 trainer access.

Our appointment scheduling process is straightforward, ensuring you receive the best possible training and care services, tailored to your dog's unique needs, at your convenience. Please, choose the timeslot that suits your needs, and complete the short questionnaire! All new clients, even clients only using our walking or pet-sitting services, must complete a questionnaire and schedule an initial, free consultation! Consultations can be virtual or in-person! In-person consultations can be in-home, at a neutral dog-friendly location, or in Howell Park. In-person consultations may incur a small travel cost depending on distance, however, in-person consultations in Germantown, including Howell Park, are always free of travel costs.

Our Story
Man & His Mutt was founded on the principle of offering accessible animal education services and pet care for the Philadelphia area, especially in our community of Germantown! We are dedicated to bridging the gap between mankind and their mutts! Alex Cost leads our little team at Man & His Mutt and has worked with animals for his entire life. Alex is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and Certified Professional Animal Care Manager (CPACM) and believes that effective training starts with owner education. Alex has also been trained in K9 CPR and First Aid! At Man & His Mutt, our goal is to enhance the bond between humans and their dogs and to empower owners to better communicate with, and handle, their own pups. Our training philosophy is rooted in a deep love for animals and a commitment to their well-being. We specialize in reactivity, aggression, anxiety, and adaptive training for disabled pets, but can help with almost all of your training needs!
